Dutch Head is a premium rum brand that combines Caribbean rum tradition with Dutch craftsmanship. Founded in 2019, our award-winning spirits have earned international recognition including Gold at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) and Silver at the London Spirits Competition.
We offer three distinctive rum editions: The Bastard Edition - our flagship premium blended rum with rich caramel and vanilla notes; The Danny Vera Edition - a limited collaboration celebrating Dutch music and craftsmanship; and The RAW Edition - an unaged white rum showcasing pure sugarcane character.
Dutch Head is born on the slopes of the Giuseppe Brancatelli vineyard in Riotorto, Italy. Three Dutch friends came up with the idea of distilling rum themselves, combining their Dutch roots with an international, adventurous spirit. The Dutch have a rich history in the spirits industry, particularly in Schiedam, where distilleries have been producing world-class spirits for over 400 years.
In 2020, plans became concrete during a holiday in Valencia, Spain. The founders decided to do things differently: adding traditional Dutch ingredients to this originally Caribbean drink, using contemporary 21st century distilling techniques, and creating a rum with significantly less sugar than other premium rums.
Our rum starts with carefully selected rums from Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Venezuela, and Panama. In Schiedam, these rums are blended with 125+ years of distilling expertise, combined with modern precision and quality control. Each batch matures in American oak casks, where our master blender creates the perfect balance of flavors.
What sets Dutch Head apart is meticulous attention to every detail. Our distillery is located below sea level in Schiedam, providing unique maturation conditions. Each bottle is filled, numbered, and sealed by hand - no mass production, but attention to every detail.
Our dedication to excellence is recognized by the world's most prestigious spirits competitions. The first blend - The Basterd Edition - immediately won a 2-star Superior Taste Award and 92 points at the International Wine & Spirits Competition. These awards validate our approach to rum making and confirm that Dutch Head stands among the finest spirits in the world.
